As a successful long-standing family business, time had come for the family to sell the business due to impending retirements. The decision to put the business up for sale was a hard one and we knew we needed to engage a professional, understanding business broking firm.

The business was a large business in the industry and there were five family directors working in the business.

We were referred to Stephen Edwards, Director of Transworld Business Advisors and started the process through multiple discussions and a final proposal meeting.

Throughout the early stages we formed a level of comfort with Stephen and the Transworld team, and we were happy to move forward with Transworld. The business sale commenced during the last year of COVID, which created some challenges, however Transworld were able to navigate these challenges with no business interruption or lack of interest to Rays Florist Group.

We had multiple interested parties & business inspections and offers which was a very stressful time. Some of the offers and parties couldn’t get finance and this at times got the shareholders disheartened as our hopes were up and a lot of time had been spent providing information, having business inspections and mentally working towards a business exit.

We also worried about confidentiality as we have a lot of staff, and we were trying to be discrete as possible. In the end, we were happy with the outcome and as the landlords of the existing buildings we were also happy with the associated lease discussions and agreements.
